’The songs of Western Slavs are about
death and love. Everybody has their own way of performing these songs
written and sung in different eras. It is my turn today, a brutal clown
in a poetic theatre — erotic and vociferous — Pushkin! My songs are
disconcerting, passionate and sad. They have more tears than laughter
in them, but still they are beautiful. That is the way I want to live,
that is the way I want to love.’
