’Defeats make the strong even stronger.
Unfortunately, we play a game against people in which the real sense of things matters very little.’
JÁNOS SZIVERI
’And we became tame, having seen the peformance, everyone could become
tame. Because the performance is coherent, well-considered in its
style, with a competent symbolism; and its moderate expressivity, its
natural human sentiments, together with its visual simplicity and
punctuality, have persuaded me that it is worth rooting for theatrical
art, that our ’better self’ has not died and left us, that there are
still cultivated minds who understand ideas. We can say about the
performance that its visuality was true poetics, in which every element
precisely served art. The music was sometimes like style practice,
other times it amplified the gaiety of life, or even the dramatic
nature of life.’
