Illyés Gyula Hungarian National Theatre of Beregszász (Ukraine): Sardaffass, the male witch - The incubus as enlightenment
26. Thursday 21:30 Lapos Beach

90' |
The play is the story of Sardaffass, the deformed son of Selene and
Pan, concieved under mysterious circumstances. Lost in the middle of
his existence outside the Text, his bodily otherness
and in the stories around his birth, he discovers stranger and stranger
healing abilities for himself; however, these, instead of helping him
to make others accept his otherness, drive him away and make him an
outcast in his own surroundings.
In the end, he feels obsessed by one thing only: how, by what Deed he could become part of the
Text. In the poet’s rewriting, the mystic storyline gives birth to a
pseudo-myth with strange atmosphere, fantastic locations, real great
passions, secrets and humour.
The performance tries to step beyond the usual parallel use of dance and prose theatre towards combining the two into a whole. |
