Oguri (Japan): Chisel-in - -

Oguri is an internationally noted butoh dancer. He began dancing in 1984 when he met Tatsumi Hijikata, the founder of butoh. In 1985 he joined famed dancer Min Tanaka’s company Mai Juku and started to work there following the concept of Body Weather Laboratory. In 1991 he set up his
Body Weather Laboratory training centre in California and also formed his company, and has been leading BWL workshops since. He dances, makes choreographies, and teaches in and outside the US as well as has been touring with his BWL group in bigger cities at home, in Western Europe andin Japan since the mid-90’s.

Oguri és Christine Quoiraud will lead the  BWL – Les Corps Paysage workshop in Palic (Yugoslavia) between 26 July and 5 August, together with Frank Van De Ven. Their performance in Szeged was organised in co-operation with Summer Movie Theatre Company. The participation of Oguri was made possible in part by a generous grant from Arts International (www.artsinternational.org).
