Women, women...The millennium of women. We are apparently having
greater access to the steering wheel of our lives. We do not know,
however, what this new power will entitle us to become:
careerist-robot-babies or fulfil the need for a more tender and greatly
missed quality. Wisdom or chaos? The question was put by Molière and
people of today are determined to find similar answer. Where should
women find their place - and where should men find their women?
a woman in the play:
‘Marriage is an institution not for the independent, but for the
self-deluding,for a woman is so much nobler than a wife.Longing for
support? What for? A united self?Going to engage? Got to disengage
first? Who from?Is this down-to-knee being a deliberate choice of yours?
’a man in the play:
‘All made clear: The fruit will take measures to be preserved, the
shirt will take care of the ironing, the shopping list takes the basket
to the market, the mess will go by order, bad scents dissolve in thin
air with candles, this but essential for us to indulge in enthusiasm,
lest some may realize we aren’t able to love.' |
