The main incentive for creating this performance is the idea of the
human body as a subject of physical and aesthetic consumption.
‘From its very start, the performance defies all expectations. It
declares nudity and indecency. All movements are trance-like,
mechanical rhythms. The almost inarticulate speech, the strange curves
of the voice leave behind a feeling of something non-human, of someone
who has transgressed the boundaries of his/her own self.Lili Handel is
constantly attempting to find a state of stability somewhere between
the personal downfalls and notions of grace. (S)he impersonates a
rhythmic gymnast playing with a ribbon, but something always goes
wrong. (S)he puts a shinning necklace round his/her face, and it looks
like the reins of a horse. (S)he sings a song over a looping vinyl.
Attempt, failure, attempt, failure... (S)he wavers between his/her
desires uncertainties.’

Ivo Dimchev, born in 1976, is one of the most promising talents of
Bulgarian contemporary dance. After finishing his studies, he took
several courses (butoh, improvisation, voice training etc.) mainly
abroad. He makes choreographies with Bulgarian and foreign partners as
well and takes part in festivals all over Europe. Besides dancing and
choreographing, he composes music (for other prose and dance
productions, too), plays in experimental films and is a photographer. |
