The (after)life of a diva. The portrait of an actress, of a man, of a woman – her explorations, errings and struggles with and for her own fate. The thoughts, the personality, the point of view of an actor, who is our contemporary. An unusually powerful self-revelation, the confessions of a woman, her rise to heaven and her descent to hell. The fights and inner struggles of an actor, a man, for his artistic and human survival. In this unconventional performance, Attila Menszátos Héresz puts on the personality of Mari Jászai, the acclaimed Hungarian actress, both literally and in a figurative sense. This way ’the two of them’ talk about the eternal issues of human and artistic fate, about theatre and existence, and about male-female relationships, from a very specific point of view.
As Menszátor was looking for a new form of expression, besides the similarity to Jászai, he found the genre of monodrama. The diary is the deepest confession, but with some exaggeration and self-pity. Menszátor looks at the latter with irony, he does not escape from it, but he is not willing to sink into the swamp of the unappreciated artist either. The performance does not mourn over the fate of artists […] In spite of the eternal themes, the reflections stay on the level of a confession.
