Napra, formed in 2004 in Budapest, plays world music. Its songs originate from the folk music of the Carpathian Basin, but the band transforms these origins by placing them in today’s cultural environment and giving them a modern sound. The band members know the region’s music very well and can easily adapt its characteristic elements. All of them play or played in other well-known world music bands and are experts on their instruments. They regularly play in clubs and at festivals, this year they were awarded the Fonogram Prize for the best Hungarian world music album, which was produced by two famous producers from London.
