Sunflower takes place in a rural town, mainly in the school, the church and the shopping mall. In this petty bourgeois play, there is a young couple, a non-functional marriage, a house they are about to lose and a serious disease. Failures swept under the carpet, unexpressed accusations and repressed anger poison the atmosphere, which is home for an alert 10-year-old, too. The adult characters carry unfulfilled desires through their troubled lives, they transform their personalities instead of solutions or produce strange diseases to hide behind puzzling symptoms from the world and their own selves. The performance focuses on a symptom of the present era showing, from the perspective of adults and children, as well, not only its tragedy but the humour that derives from its absurdity, too.
