Lifeboat Unit has been chosen as the special guest of the festival. Beyond the artistic values, this decision expresses the importance of social responsibility and activism along with the priorities that have determined the 27-year-long activity of MASZK Association as a non-governmental organization, including empathy, solidarity, responsibility, awareness of problems and tolerance.
The festival focuses on workshops this year, too. The trainings for theatre and drama students are led by playwright, director and dramaturge Andrea Pass and dancer, choreographer Kristóf Widder. The workshop demonstrations are to be presented on July 28th.
Apart from outstanding local and national theatre makers and the representatives of the next generations, our international guests were again selected primarily from Eastern and Southern Europe, and, as usual, we also invited some Hungarian productions from beyond our borders.
Apart from the several old favourites, we have two “freshmen”, as well. András Lóránt Company from Târgu Mureș (Romania) and Ellas Duo will present themselves for the first time at this festival. During these 9 days, we offer more than 60 events at 9 venues, including 6 premieres, 2 Hungarian premieres, open-air performances, and Q and A’s with artists, so hopefully everyone will find something to their liking. We are certain that our programme series will again be full of surprises and unforgettable moments.
We believe that THEALTER, which has received the EFFE Label of the European Festivals Association for the second time, also for 2017-2018, continues to be a festival which can cherish its traditions and achievements as well as succeed in renewing itself so that it can always offer more to its audience and the community.
Our audience is important for us and we hope everyone will feel it. We hope we are also important for our audience.
The future continues.
