Csokonai National Theatre (Debrecen): Samuel Beckett: First Love

24. Thursday 20:00     Chamber Theatre

80'

performed by: Mészáros Tibor
dramaturgy: Márton Imola
set and costume design, directed by: Gemza Péter

First Love, one of the first short stories written by Beckett in French, has not been adapted on the Hungarian stage before. This cynical and humorous story guides us into the inner world of a man who is bothered by everything, who is timid and egoistic, and who, since the death of his father, has lived his life as a tramp. One day, however, he learns the meaning of the word „love”. As he is sitting alone on a bench, a woman appears and asks for his permission to sit down. Even against his will he starts to bind to her and regain the freedom of his thoughts.
