A stammerer? A carrot eater? Would these be
the constant attributes of a gigantic and immortal hero in an epic poem? Why
not? However, not really in Homer, but it is possible in the Armenian legend of
Dávid Szaszuni. The rich and grotesque tale will be presented with carved
wooden puppets and masks, accompanied by live music. A unique feature of the
performance is the new form: a round table theatre, which evokes the circus
ring as well as the world of Asian nomadic tents and ancient shrines built up
from stones. Thus it is not surprising at all that no one will leave the
wedding of Dávid Szaszuni and Princess Khandut with an empty stomach!
