Chaplin, Buster Keaton, the Marx Brothers, Jacques Tati – they are the
main inspiration for the Alexis
Moati-Jérôme Beaufils burlesque duo. The performance follows their tradition, while mixing it
with elements of contemporary dance and objects manipulation.
The starting point of the production is a saticiral description of our
daily gestures. The solitude of the two characters locked up in an apartment
that might become their prison, or their tomb, gives way first to anxiety, then
to anguish. The world which surrounds them, the sound of neighbours, annoying
at first, soon become exasperating, then turn into a threat…
There are very few words in the performance, which is at once a
reminiscence of silent films and a tribute to the expressive capacities of body
and face. It is bodies in action, without psychology, and speech is only a
source of anxiety.
Vol Plané performs for the first time in Hungary.
