The protagonist of Gogol’s ‘Petersburg tale’ is a civil servant who has
been losing sight of the real world or has always had an unstable
perception of reality. The script of this new version of Diary of a
Madman was finalized after comparing several translations and the
original Russian piece. Apart from the actor Tamás Keresztes, the other
important “character” on the stage is the set designed also by
Keresztes, along with the live sound loop, which gives birth to the
music and the overall atmosphere of the performance. Are we mad or the
world has gone mad around us? – the question is as burning in 2016 as it
was in 1834.
