An unusual and irregular confession about myself, as I learned at the therapy sessions. I would like to thank KINO, my brother, Imre, Dani, Roli, Dóri, Zoli, and all those who have listened to me.

Misi, a sex addict, has suffered an accident. He is a strange and mysterious figure, who does not like his twin brother, Imi. Imi works at a theatre and neither likes his twin brother. The conflict between the twins is irresolvable. The story ends in tragicomic events.

“Why would anyone want to be the Hungarian Belmondo? The protagonist of the performance, Misi Baksa explains it simply: he wants to be the Hungarian Belmondo. Well, it is true if you want to be an actor, being Belmondo covers all the aspects of an actor’s life. The question is: Isn't the Hungarian Belmondo an oxymoron? Can we Hungarians have a Belmondo? The question remains unanswered until we realise that the title of the performance is Hungarian Belmondó, with an accent on letter ’o’. This way the word Bel-mondó may be interpreted as talking-about-the-inner-self. (In Hungarian ’Bel’ means inner, ’mondó’ refers to someone who tells something.) In his performance Imre Baksa speaks of himself. Or his twin brother, who at some point disturbingly takes after Imre Baksa.”

Neptun Brigád is an open theatre company founded in 2005. The performers change from time to time, and though some of them have made appearances in only a few productions, they are all members of the company. Their shows are always performed at different venues, which is also an inspiring factor in the creative process. The only fix point is Imre Baksa, who initiates the projects and directs the performances. He stages contemporary literature, his works imply all the delightful moments of theatre-making and have proved to be both entertaining and thought-provoking.
With this monodrama, Neptun Brigád has added a new genre to its repertoire, working with a guest director for the first time. The genre of monodrama has taken various forms in the past few years; from stand-up comedy to one-person puppet-drama. The audience, however, has not been addressed so far. Hungarian Belmondo makes an attempt to provoke and involve its audience.
