Monchichi Study Group (Budapest): Michael Ende: The Mother's Face is Dark as Marsh

20. Wednesday 22:00     Cellar Theatre

30'

cast: Péter Kata, Máthé Zsolt
stage design, costumes, puppets: Miareczky Edit e.h.
music: Ódor Viktor
director: Bereczki Csilla e.h.

After last year’s successful debut, Monchichi Study Group staged a special adaptation again. The performance is their exam work at the University of Theatre and Film, based on the story The Mirror in the Mirror: A Labyrinth by Michael Ende, the well-known author of Never Ending Story and Momo, with the help of expressive puppets.

Originally the members of the cast are not puppeteers. Actor Zsolt Máté works at Örkény Theatre, while Kata Péter is a freelance actress, who performs at Radnóti Theatre, Katona József Theatre and Belvárosi Theatre in Budapest, therefore this performance was a real challenge for both of them.
Edit Miareczky finishes her studies at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts this year and has already worked with Dóra Barta at Gárdonyi Géza Theatre and at the Harlequin Puppet Theatre in Eger, as well as at Katona József Theatre and Örkény Theatre in Budapest.
Csilla Berecki is a third year student at the University of Theatre and Film, studying theatre and puppet theatre direction. Her professors are Tibor Csizmadia and János Meczner. Under her direction, Monchichi Study Group is preparing another exciting project in August based on Géza Csáth’s works.
