Odyssey is happening here and now. You are Odysseus, Penelope and Telemachus, the sailors and the suitors – everything is happening to you, in you, by you. You are not an outsider, not a spectator, but rather a ‘sensor’. We are not actors but rather your company, those who make you feel, recall and play, who chant and cradle the tale. (Don’t be scared, nothing more intimate or worse will happen to your body than during a massage.) Your body and soul are both involved in the story. Let yourself float. Homer’s epic poem doesn’t matter now, it is more important to tell the story in our own language about a man who is roaming about, looking for something and wants to feel home somewhere. For instance in Ithaca. Or in himself.
We blindfold you during the play. You can get out whenever you want but we hope it won’t happen. We will make you move therefore it is highly recommended to wear something casual.
“We’ve been trying to find the ways of recreating the liberation, energy-flow and the ecstatic openness of the trainings in a standard theatrical environment, regardless of the participants’ age, theatrical experiences or education. This was the starting point of our projects Theatricalize yourself and Tribe, and now Body-Odyssey, which was also inspired by Virtual Reality and One-Minute Theatre by TÁP Theatre and by the Ability Park, but first of all by the project Exposition of the Croatian group Bacači Sjenki at THEALTER Festival in 2008.
However, participation of animators and strong physical contact differentiates us from the above listed performances. Touching, coming into contact with the body is our most essential means of communication, which was exiled from the artistic effect mechanisms by Western Civilization thousands of years ago.” (Imre Keserű)
