The birth and metamorphoses of gods, their wars, dances and love lives, presented by the stylish dance world of GoBe Company. Men and women, tango dancers and contemporary dancers, a striptease artist, a mime artist, an opera singer, a cellist, a harp player, a lute player and a brass player will fill the stage. The laws of Eros are inescapable: the one who can conceive attracts the other who inseminates, and their matrimony yields new life. Descendants come from the union of bodies, while new spirit comes from spiritual union, creative power from intellectual unity. Humans are always capable of conception in one way or another, so they never stop craving for seminal influence. Greek mythology still bears the imprint of magical belief where the powers of nature and of the gods are one and the same. Gods feed man, and man, through sacrifice, has to feed his gods in return. The world of erotics and fertility are identical, matrimony guarantees the future by producing new descendants, new crop. We will evoke the most telling moments of Greek mythology about love: the births of Eros and Aphrodite, Hera as the jealous peacock queen, the metamorphosis of Zeus into a bull and his war against the centaurs, the ceremonies of Dionysus, the seduction of the Nymphs.
Today we have banished the gods from our lives, but if you don't want to live only in the present, then join us on this exquisite, delicately tuned trip!
This is the third time our company has been invited to THEALTER Festival. Our first guest performance, Behind Mirrors, was a site-specific street performance in 2009, while last year, in Tolnai’s Dance Encyclopedia, we took inspiration from Ottó Tolnai's work. This year we have been commissioned by the festival to produce a new piece with the theme 'eroticism'.
