Body-Voice Training: Based on Zygmunt Molik's methodology

21. Thursday 10:00     Millenniumi Café

180'

“The secret lies in the voice, in the sound which is as perfect and clear as possible. We have to awaken the inner part of the body and manifest it in some outer form. Our body parts are often separated from each other: our head moves separately and so do our legs, for instance... we are blocked. Through the combination of voice and body exercises, we can reach the point where the whole body becomes fully active in how we speak and sing.”
Zygmunt Molik

Zygmunt Molik (1930-2010) was a leading actor in Jerzy Grotowski's Laboratory Theatre. He contributed a lot to the development of voice training methodologies for actors. He considered creative energies and the search for a unity between body and voice as fundamental in the acting process. After the Laboratory Theatre became inactive, he held 'Body and Voice' workshops in Poland and abroad till 2008.

Our workshop is based on Molik's body and voice training as well as on Grotowski's research on 'ideogramms' in acting. The trainers are Tamás Liszkai and Mária Punk, the leaders of Παραstúdió in Szeged. Tamás Liszkai has been active in amateur theatre performances since 2002. He studied at the Grotowski Insitute in Wrocław and participated in courses lead by Grotowski's actors, including  Molik. At present, he holds a scholarship at the Grotowski Insitute. In Szeged, he works regularly with drama teacher and director Mária Punk.

The workshop is free, open to the public and requires no previous professional experience. Primarily we expect students to participate. The trainings require proper outfit (comfortable clothes, shoes).

Training time and venue: 20-23 July, between 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Millenium Café
You can send your application to maszk@maszk.hu, or apply personally at the venue right before the first training on 20 July at 10.00 a.m.
Maximum number of participants: 12.
