He who is loved less never knows why he is loved ’less’. He blames the injustice of the world, the indifference of his fellows, though he is neglected because of his low emotional intelligence, his selfish nature and narrow-mindedness. He is neglected indeed. No one wants to start a conversation with him. Not being loved is excruciating. He contracts his eyebrows, clenches his teeth, clenches his fists. He is very dangerous now. He, who is loved less.
Béla Pintér and Company was established in 1998 with the leadership of Béla Pintér, who not only stages his own plays but also performs in his own productions. Their residence is at Szkéné, an independent repertory theatre in the building of the Budapest Technical University. In the past ten years they had ten world premieres at Szkéné and one at the National Theatre. The company aims at staging contemporary theatre pieces based on their own and the society’s critical-ironic impressions. The surreal world so typical of their performances consists of the mixture of reality and dreams, authentic elements and kitsch, and some motives of Hungarian folklore. The company is considered as one of the most significant and innovative independent theatre companies in Hungary.
