The main motive of this performance is the train and travelling by train in the Carpathian Basin, particularly in Hungary and Voivodina, Ottó Tolnai’s home. The performance touches current issues like pleasures and problems, the advantages and disadvantages of minority life. The train, a symbolic element stands for an object, with which we can leave a country, or go to different places. It can take us back in time or to the future, it can be either an intimate or a public space with crowds of people standing on the platform.
Travelling is an essential and symbolic part of our life with countless literary, cinematographic and musical references. We hope that our performance, which is not a literary adaptation, but an exciting, colourful journey in 30 minutes, can address all those who are not familiar with Tolnai’s works. But secretly we do hope that they want to get acquainted with them at the next station…
