Fortunately the students performing in this play don’t know what it is like living, existing in a dictatorship but as we heard a lot about it from our parents, and teachers and saw it in many films, we are very keen on learning more about it. Everybody knows the tale of The King Who Was Shivering with Cold, so based on our experience and everyday life we mixed the two and created our version of a dictatorship with the help of a manifold tale. Now we make an attempt to show some of these images.
”The King Who Was Shivering with Cold based on Ferenc Móra’s tale is directed by Zoltán Szebeni and performed by the students of Horváth Mihály Secondary School, Szentes. The performance with live sets and special dramaturgy has a very strong social message. It describes the nature of dictatorships referring to the 50s, warning us that those times can always return. If we want to be free, we shouldn’t be obedient citizens reciting demagogic slogans.” (József Rigó: A Tizenhatodik GLOBE Fesztivál, www.szin-jatekos.hu)
