Images and bodies. Ideals and stereotypes. Women, roles, divas. In and out of the spotlight. Patrons and artists. Celebrities and characters. Ads, cover pages, seductive women and alluring gentlemen. But who are they behind the glossy make-up and the rumors? Questions and answers. Now and then. And what happens when real legends come to life and it just turns out that these ethereal creatures are also humans… (Dis)appearances is a pseudo-documentary theatre with an accurately constructed script, with original sound atmosphere and vision, which evokes past times by means of dream mechanisms through the figure of the legendary diva Gizi Bajor and the poet Ottó Tolnai with the assistance of the literary editors of the journal Spanyolnátha. In the show of The House of the Third Voice the audience can witness a modern interpretation of the world of an old salon. This surreal performance transfers, transmits and creates messages with pseudo-identities regardless of age and gender that are able to erase the distance between past and present, between reality and surrealism. The past and the present are within striking distance. The members of The House of the Third Voice provide us with an audiovisual experience which emphasizes the relation between our real and a virtually created world. They present the (pseudo)documents through today’s cultural filters and techniques. The originally two-dimensional archives become three-dimensional experiences through the virtually reconstructed furnishings. And what else is waiting for the time traveller? Illusions, audio and visual collages, multiplication of the self, physical theatre and live images. The spectators can even interfere with the story… Our performers are happy to guide them having a glass of wine, fresh fruits and rose petals in the atmospheric yard of the Old Synagogue.
