You and I

Who are you?
A surface warm to my fingers,
a solid form, an occupant of space,
a makeshift kind of enjoyment,
a pitiless being who runs away like water,
something left unfinished, out of inferior matter,

Something God thought of.
Nothing, sometimes everything,
something I cannot believe in,
a foolish argument, you, yourself, not I,
an enemy of mine. My lover.
(Tennessee Williams)

The 1950s in the United States. A wealthy cotton tycoon and his family: wife, two sons and their wives. He is 65 today. He has end-stage cancer. The family pretends to celebrate his birthday, but they invited a priest and a doctor, too. They are more excited about the inheritance than the party itself.
The characters are living in the maze of concealment and lies, from where one way out is booze, the other is death. … They try to shut the door on the burning house hoping to forget about the fire. They think if they manage to conceal their common and individual pains, they will get rid of the problem.
The performance received three awards at POSZT Festival in Pécs in 2016.
