The performance, based on László Végel’s novel, is inspired by the real life of those who live in the city of Neoplanta, that is, Novi Sad, or Újvidék, or Neusatz or Mlada Loza. The name was given by Maria Theresa, queen of the Habsburg Empire, who hoped the town would serve as an example of how different nations can live side by side in peace. Nevertheless, the 250-year history of Neoplanta is full of conflicts, hatred, violence and blood. This spring, the production received a number of awards at two prestigious Serbian theatre festivals.
