drMáriás is a writer, painter and lead musician of the band Tudósok. He studied arts in Belgrade and moved to Hungary in 1991. His work is often characterized as strident and critical while handling questions of existence raised by Eastern European identity, politics and history. The avantgarde, dadaism, pop-art and surrealism all influence his artistic strategies, which he defines as “social surgery”.
